Holtab was established by Bengt Holmberg in 1973 and underwent rapid expansion in the first few years. Holtab's products were immediately appreciated by the Swedish electric power industry, but also garnered attention from other countries.
During the later part of the 1970s, Holtab exported sand-proof stations to countries such as Saudi Arabia and Libya. We also made a delivery to the BaiBang aid project in North Korea in 1976.
During the 1980s, Holtab continued to grow and expand its operations and solidified its position as a leading supplier of transformer stations. There was also time to test a few parallel manufacturing leads, from aviation manufacturers to wood-burning stove manufacturers.
With a growing market and successes in electricity distribution, certain segments were discontinued and the development and manufacturing units concentrated primarily on the electricity distribution market. This decade also saw the true start of computerisation, and Holtab was quick to adopt the new technology.
The 2000s continued with constant orders and strong results. As Holtab was making new turnover records, it invested in new and existing properties. Manufacturing was further developed and new markets and customers came about. For example, in 2003, the Finnish branch office was opened and in 2009, new market segments in wind power and infrastructure were established.
The current decade has seen increased growth, a branch office in Denmark, increased manufacturing resources and warehouse space and a priority for committing to society and the environment. Today, Holtab is owned by Chairman Anders Holmberg and the company continues on its journey to develop futuristic and innovative solutions.
Power to change is partly about our important mission - to contribute future-oriented and innovative solutions that benefit society and the infrastructure at large. But also that we at Holtab must continue to evolve as the market and society change. Together we will continue to deliver good products and make sure we get a positive result.
