Eddie was set to be a football pro – found his place in industry

There was a time when football was all he thought about. But when the dream of going pro slipped away, he turned his focus to industry. Today, he’s an experienced leader working with power solutions at Holtab.

“Holtab is an exciting place to be. Power technology is crucial for the energy transition,” he says.

As Production Manager for low voltage at Holtab, Eddie leads a team of more than 30 people – most of them assemblers, responsible for constructing switchgear. As a leader, his role is to build a team that pulls in the same direction.

“At the end of the day, we are all individuals with our own drive and a sense of personal responsibility. But the truly powerful part is when you work together and achieve something greater. When that happens, I think it’s important to celebrate,” says Eddie.

Eddie is 31 and lives with his partner in Karlshamn, Blekinge.

A football lad

As a teenager, life revolved around football. He went to a football academy and had his sights set on Mjällby AIF, Blekinge’s pride in Swedish football.

“It was a serious effort, and I was on the verge of securing a contract with Mjällby.”

At the same time as pursuing football, Eddie worked shifts at Volvo in Olofström, helping to build doors for the Volvo XC60.

“When my football career came to an end, I started working full-time. Before long I became a team leader, and that eventually led to a role as production manager.”

Enjoys the mix

The next step in his career was with a global heat exchanger manufacturer at their site in Ronneby. After a few years he was recruited to Holtab, and he finds it inspiring to once again be learning something new.

“I knew nothing about electrical power before. Now I understand how important Holtab’s products are for the climate,” says Eddie.

He also appreciates Holtab’s ability to attract and employ people from a wide range of backgrounds – different ethnicities, ages, and genders.

“There are so many perspectives and experiences coming together. It creates a dynamic environment and helps us develop,” Eddie concludes.
