Now starting: 2025 Electrician training program for women

For the fifth year in a row, Holtab and Montico are launching their electrician training program for women – an initiative that has opened doors to new careers for many, while also promoting greater gender equality in the industry.

"On April 29, we’re hosting an information session at our site in Tingsryd. We’re really looking forward to meeting future electricians," says Pernilla Sundén, HR Manager at Holtab.

The program is a municipal adult education course offered by Montico, combining both theoretical and practical elements. Much of the program is conducted remotely, with a 6–8 week hands-on internship at Holtab’s factories in Tingsryd or Olofström.

"It’s incredibly inspiring to see how many women are eager to change careers and enter the industrial and electrical trades," says Pernilla.

"We’re seeing growing interest – and we know there are strong job prospects for those who complete the training."

Holtab Training Center

One of this year’s new features is that Holtab is making even greater use of its own Training Center in Olofström – something that has significantly improved the internship experience for previous participants.

"We’re constantly working to improve the hands-on training. Being able to practice in a safe environment first, before stepping into production, does a lot for the participants’ confidence," says Pernilla.

This year, the internship is also more concentrated towards the end of the program, providing participants with more cohesive and focused time at Holtab.

A Program That Delivers Results

Since its launch, several graduates have gone on to employment – and the program has had a noticeable impact on Holtab’s efforts toward gender equality.

“Today, nearly 70 percent of our female electricians came from this program.”

"It clearly works. This isn’t just about bringing more women into the field – it’s about broadening the recruitment base and securing the skills we need for the future."

The percentage of women at Holtab has risen from 10% to 21% since the company made a dedicated decision to work with gender equality.

"We see that diverse companies perform better. But this is also something I care deeply about. I want to help create a working life where women feel just as empowered and capable as men. That makes me proud – both as an HR professional and as a person."
