Scalable power solutions are key for data centres
Data centres are being built at a rapid pace and require large amounts of power. At the same time, solutions need to be safe and able to scale over time. Holtab Sales Engineer Eric Risemark Mønnich explains how prefabricated and scalable technical buildings can meet these needs.

Holtab has extensive experience in prefabricated power solutions and builds technical buildings and switchgear buildings in its own factories. The solutions can be adapted to the requirements of each project and expanded as needs change.
‘In addition to the fast pace of these projects, we see that scalability is important to our customers. Solutions need to allow for future expansion and additions,’ says Eric.
Another important aspect is having a clear picture of the power solution at an early stage of the project. This provides a better basis for the design process and for discussions with the grid operator regarding connection and power requirements.

Prefabricated solutions
Assembly takes place in a controlled factory environment designed with personnel safety in mind. Before delivery, the technical buildings are tested and ready for installation on site.
Multiple technical buildings can be joined together to create larger facilities. There is a wide range of standard dimensions, while the buildings can also be adapted to the customer’s specific requirements. The concept is based on 1.2-metre modules and can be equipped with a range of optional features.

Technical buildings can be docked together to create larger facilities, as you can read about in this customer case.
Adapted to each project
Holtab is supplier-independent and works with several established manufacturers. This means that components can be selected according to the requirements of each individual project.
‘We have extensive experience in building technical buildings and substations and can provide valuable support throughout the process. We are very familiar with grid operators’ requirements and can guide customers towards the right solution based on the needs of their project.’
Holtab also supplies solutions for projects with stringent safety and security requirements.
‘High requirements for redundancy, fire safety and intrusion protection are a good fit for us. Customers can also add digital services for energy efficiency and preventive maintenance,’ Eric concludes.
