Marika’s Passion for Technology Began on the Family Horse Farm
After ten years in international corporations, she set her sights on the family-owned company Holtab. Her mission: to lead the technical work in one of Holtab’s divisions.
“It’s been easy to step into the role. I rely on Holtab’s strong values and the experience of my skilled colleagues,” says Marika Jörgensen, Technical Project Manager.

It all started when a former colleague of Marika’s took a job at Holtab. He confirmed what she had already heard – that Holtab fosters a culture of equality and shared responsibility.
“A company’s culture is incredibly important. We have a high proportion of women working here, and there’s a strong belief in teamwork and development.”
Marika now leads the technical efforts in Holtab’s Projects division – a team that handles more complex orders with high levels of customer adaptation.
A Lifelong Interest in Technology
Marika commutes from her horse farm near Torhamn, in the far southeast corner of Blekinge, to Holtab’s head office in Tingsryd, Småland.
“Horses have always been a big part of my life, and I’ve driven quite a few heavy vehicles – that naturally sparked an interest in mechanics and technology. That interest led me to become a civil engineer, and eventually into the field of power engineering and the energy transition. I feel I’m in a meaningful industry, making a real difference,” she says.

Her team includes electrical and mechanical designers, testers, and production engineers. Together, they handle everything from structural design to high- and low-voltage systems, quality assurance, and production process optimization.
“We always think about the people who will be working inside our stations. Accessibility and smart, sustainable solutions are key. Even with a high degree of customer-specific adaptation, we aim to make our developments applicable across as many stations as possible.”
A Natural Leader
Marika studied industrial management and economics – something she describes as “social science for engineers.”
“It prepares you for project leadership and process development.”
Following her years in the power sector, she has developed a growing interest in leadership.
“At a company like Holtab, with such strong values, being a manager is incredibly rewarding. We collaborate closely and there’s a high level of technical competence. And on top of that, we have a structure built on our values – which provides a stable foundation to stand on. That makes a big difference,” she concludes.
