100% Electric – Secondary Substation Delivered to Charging Site by Electric Truck

Holtab has now completed its first delivery of a secondary substation using a fully electrified transport solution. Our customer Eviny received the station, destined for their EV charging site in Linköping, transported 250 km by electric truck.

“Together with the haulier and the customer, we made this possible. We are all part of the energy transition,” says Holtab’s Chief Procurement Officer, Katarina Hansell.

Holtab’s efforts to offer fossil-free transport solutions are moving forward. The first customer project involving the delivery of a secondary substation by electric truck has now been completed.

Our customer Eviny received a secondary substation delivered to their electric vehicle charging site in Linköping.

“We are working intensively to become less dependent on fossil fuels in our transport operations. We carried out internal pilot tests last autumn, and being able to deliver our products by electric truck feels fantastic,” says Katarina.

Holtab is also aiming to increase the use of trucks powered by HVO100, which has up to 90 percent lower climate impact than traditional diesel.

Reduced climate impact

Eviny’s substation was transported from Holtab’s factory in Tingsryd to Ekholmen Centre in Linköping, where a fast-charging site for six vehicles is being built. Eviny currently operates 100 charging sites across Sweden, from Kiruna in the north to Ystad in the south.

“We requested delivery by electric vehicle. We’re constantly evaluating and developing our climate efforts. This is a step in the right direction,” says Sebastian Andersson, Eviny’s Country Manager.

Fully electric transport is still harder to source than fossil-fuelled alternatives, but Eviny hopes this will change as electric vehicle adoption increases.

“This is a pilot project and we will evaluate the entire process. But for now, we can say that the delivery went well and we are pleased to have reduced our climate footprint,” he adds.

Midway charging stop

JSC Transport, a long-standing partner of Holtab, carried out the delivery. This was the first time we completed an entirely electric transport solution.

“We’re pleased we could make this happen. It’s great to be able to offer our customers fossil-free deliveries,” says Carl-Fredrik Gyllenhammar, Sales Engineer at Holtab.

The 250-kilometre journey required one charging stop, which took place at one of Eviny’s charging stations.

“We delivered an outdoor-operated secondary substation to provide grid connection to their charging site. The customer has a high-voltage subscription and owns the station themselves,” says Carl-Fredrik.
