Fast-growing power company: “Holtab is our partner in the transition”

Kraft & Montage i Syd builds charging stations for heavy electric vehicles. Owner Martin Hansson turns to Holtab for complete, turnkey solutions.

“It’s exciting to witness the development in vehicle charging. With Holtab, I have a reliable partner that takes safety seriously,” he says.

Kraft & Montage i Syd is a newly founded company based in Svedala, southern Sweden. The business focuses on green energy, including battery solutions, renewable energy sources, and electric vehicles.

With a booming industry, the company has grown steadily — from 4 to 18 employees in just a few years.

“The demand is high due to the electrification trend. There’s particularly strong momentum in vehicle charging,” says Martin.

Ultra-Fast Charging

Today’s charging stations are becoming increasingly powerful. Chargers delivering 350 kW – so-called ultra-fast chargers – are now standard. With that level of output, even a heavy lorry can be fully charged in a short time.

One of Kraft & Montage i Syd’s flagship projects is a charging station for electric lorries, developed for Öresundskraft in Arlöv, Malmö. It opened in August 2024 and is located on the grounds of Volvo Truck Center, strategically positioned along the E6 motorway.

“The station is open to all. Two trucks can charge simultaneously, and the site is prepared for two additional chargers,” says Martin.

Major Charging Site

The project is a significant investment by Öresundskraft. Support from the Swedish Energy Agency has played an important role.

“We’ve acted as the main contractor, and my work has been made much easier thanks to Holtab. They’re experts on grid operator requirements, they understand the technical systems that need to be installed, and they prioritise personal safety.”

Martin highlights safety as a key concern. His own team often handles the installation and maintenance.

He has personally visited Holtab’s factory in Tingsryd to take part in factory acceptance tests – the best way, he says, to ensure the highest safety standards.

“I think Holtab stands out in the industry. Nothing is left to chance when it comes to safety.”

Complete Confidence

Since Kraft & Montage i Syd began working with Holtab, the two companies have collaborated on numerous projects.

“Holtab really cares about me as a customer. They act quickly, and if something needs investigating or adjusting, their service technicians are out on site to help.”

Martin values their open and honest communication.

“If a particular component has a longer lead time, they’re upfront about it. They tell me exactly what to expect and don’t overpromise. I can rely on them – and that’s what makes me want to keep partnering with them,” he says.

The Challenge

Kraft & Montage i Syd receives many assignments requiring high-capacity electrical power – particularly for heavy vehicle charging stations. To deliver the right solutions, they work closely with Holtab.

The Solution

Using Holtab’s secondary substations, Kraft & Montage i Syd can provide intelligent charging solutions to the market.

For the Öresundskraft project at the Volvo Truck Center site in Arlöv, outside Malmö, Holtab supplied a double concrete secondary substation delivering 2 x 1,250 kVA. It is prefabricated and designed for indoor operation.

The delivery includes:

  • Transformers
  • General electrical systems, heating and ventilation
  • Lighting and emergency lighting
  • Fire alarm
  • 110VDC low-voltage system
  • 400VAC VHC system with automatic switching
  • Testing and commissioning

The Result

The transition to heavy electric vehicles continues – fuelled by the development of more charging sites across Sweden. Companies like Kraft & Montage are delivering innovative, safe and technically advanced solutions. Thanks to their partnership with Holtab, the results are efficient and cost-effective, end-to-end.
