Wind farm Hjuleberg

Holtab has supplied a converter station to Vattenfall's new wind farm in Hjuleberg. It is a unique concept that sees technology and power in the same building - a concept that was developed together with Vattenfall and put together at Holtab's factory.

A unique all-in-one solution perfect for the Hjuleberg wind farm

Hjuleberg wind farm will be built during 2013 and comprise 12 wind turbines from Siemens each with an output of 3 MW; they will have a tower height of 92.5 meters and a rotor diameter of 113 meters. The combined total output will be 36 MW, which means the wind farm is able to produce annual renewable household electricity for about 18,000 homes.

Holtab has delivered a converter station, developed in collaboration with Vattenfall, to the Hjuleberg wind farm.

“This is a total concept with technology and power in the same building,” Michael Fohlin form Holtab tells us.

Because the solution they worked out was designed for unmanned wind farms, it was something of a pilot project for both Holtab and Vattenfall.

“The result is a good – and hopefully effective – solution that has worked superbly so far,” states Kenneth Pettersson from Vattenfall.

The converter station was designed, produced, tested and inspected at Holtab’s factory in Tingsryd before delivery to the customer.

“The solution we are now able to offer customers is unique, and a much more economical proposition compared to building a similar station on site,” continues Michael Fohlin.

And Kenneth Pettersson shares that opinion.

“Putting everything together in one place and then driving it to our wind farm is incredibly practical,” he concludes.
